I have decided to write my sub-cultural observation essay on the Rastafarian religion. The religion/culture originated in Africa and is mainly practiced by those of Jamaican decent. This religion was practiced, preached and sung about by the reggae musical legend "Bob Marley."
The rasta religion is one that seeks out to purify the mind, body and soul; bringing them en sync with one another to manifest spirituality that conquers and surcome the trials and tribulations of society. Rastafarian's allow their hair to grow and lock-up which is known as dreadlocks; this is apart of their outer appearance, which identifies them as part the culture and from other individuals. Rastafarian's do not eat meat, they are vegetarians, and some eat fish to substitute the meat. A Rastafarian's meditation intel's reading biblical text (Psalms, Proverbs), being one with Jah (God) and their inner soul, and smoking marijuana. Rasta's reach out through music:
"The rich mon's way is in the city, destruction of the poor is poverty, destruction of your soul is vanity. I want to rule my destiny."

Hi, my name is Begonia Gaskin; everyone calls me "B" or "Bogie" for short. I am a mother of a ten year old, smart, talented, energetic boy and I am currently single. I am back in college after five years to complete my AA in Registered Nursing. I am currently employed as a Pre-Kindergarten Teacher at a local learning academy. I love my students and have great patience for them, but on the flip side I have little patience for other things and other people. Another passion of mines is caring for others. I love all music but reggae is my favorite. Well, there you have it, its not much but that pretty much sums it up about me. ~B~
